1. UOW was ranked the number one university in Australia for Teaching Performance, based on the Australian Government Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) “Student Outcome Indicators for Learning and Teaching Performance Fund”. (The Australian, August 2005)
This ranking is based on criteria including student feedback on teaching standards and overall satisfaction, the high standard of academic performance of our students, and the percentage of UOW graduates in full-time employment.
2. For the second successive year, UOW has scored the maximum five-star ratings in six key categories in the Good Universities Guide, Australia’s independent, authoritative guide to choice of university. Five-star ratings were awarded for:
* * * * * Research Intensity
* * * * * Graduate Rating (Student Experience)
* * * * * Getting a Job
* * * * * Positive Graduate Outcomes
* * * * * Graduate Starting Salary
* * * * * Staff Qualifications
UOW is among a group of only seven elite Australian institutions to achieve an overall score of more than 40 stars out of a possible 55 in the independent 2006 Guide.
UOW is also the only university to be named Australia’s University of the Year two years running by the Good Universities Guide:
1999-2000 joint winner - Outstanding Research & Development Partnerships;
2000-2001 joint winner - Preparing Graduates for the E-world.
UOW has been ranked highly and consistently for many years, not only for its teaching, but as a five-star choice for potential research students.
