Questions:
What made you choose to study at the University of Wollongong over any other institution?
I initially choose UOW because of the unique double degree combinations – no other university offered a combined psychology and commerce degree. UOW had also won many awards and was well known for its innovative and personalised approach to teaching.
What do you like best about UOW?
Everyone at the uni is very approachable and friendly – students, tutors, lecturers and staff. There is an ‘open door’ policy at UOW which means that you can always meet with your lecturers and tutors to ask any questions you may have. I also like that there are all types of learning support available to make sure every student can do their very best in their studies.
How do you feel the University of Wollongong is preparing you for the future?
I feel as though the lecturers and tutors at UOW give students the ‘edge’, as most of them currently work and/or conduct research in their field of study. This means that when I graduate, I will have the most up-to-date and practical knowledge possible. Again, the confidence that uni builds in you will be invaluable in the future, from applying for jobs to becoming the CEO of a company!
Why did you choose to study your particular degree?
I’ve always been fascinated with human behaviour, the way the mind works, and why people are so different from one another – psychology seemed to encompass all of that and more. Then I also had an interest in business; in particular, learning about employee relations and the human resource component of organisations. The degree combined both interests in one easy package!
What kind of activities are you involved in on campus?.
I am involved with the Dance Club, who hold many dance classes during semester, with a performance at the UniBar at the end of session. Clubs are an awesome way to meet people with the same interests as you.
