UOW also offered a flexible approach to study with many options and study avenues to choose from. The grounds and the friendly atmosphere of the university itself also appeal to me.

What’s your favourite class at Uni?
The Prac Teaching strand of my course is my favourite class, as it gives me the opportunity to put what I’ve learned in my studies into practice in the classroom. It’s very rewarding, as well as being fun. The experience, skills and knowledge gained by prac teaching are invaluable, and the fact that we are in the classroom within three weeks of commencing our degree is remarkable.
Why did you choose to study your particular degree?
After completing my HSC, I was still unsure of what degree I wanted to study at university. The Bachelor of Arts degree offered at UOW suited my situation, in that it offered me the flexibility to choose from a number of subjects from a range of faculties during my first year of study. After a year and a half studying Arts, I took 6 months off to travel overseas, and, on my return, decided that I was more suited to a Bachelor of Education (PDHPE) degree, which I transferred to the following semester.
What kinds of activities are you involved in on-campus?
I am involved in lunchtime sports at UOW, and am also a member of UOW Boardriders and UOW Soccer Club. I have also competed in both the Eastern and Australian University Games for the past 3 years.
What kind of career do you think you might like to pursue after University?
I would love to spend some time teaching overseas in a variety of locations and institutions, with the main aim of educating and helping children live a healthier lifestyle. I would also like to be involved at some point with special needs students.
