EdStart GrantsEdStart grants are for undergraduate domestic students who are enrolled at the University of Wollongong for both Autumn and Spring sessions in 2008. The EdStart grant is for all of 2008. EdStart applications are assessed on the basis of financial need. First year students are strongly encouraged to apply. EdStart provides $500 support for educational costs to low income undergraduate students at the University of Wollongong. EdStart is NOT a cash award. Actual goods and services will be provided through the University of Wollongong and the UniShop. This will include items such as: readers/course notes; calculators; text books; IT consumables; computer books; media storage; printing; photocopying; reference titles; software; instruments; IT hardware; stationery; lab coats; folders and paper. This list is not exhaustive. To obtain some items students may be required to provide documentation from their course coordinator. With documentation you may be able to obtain items such as digital cameras, ipods (e.g. Creative Arts students) and laptop backpacks. To be eligible for EdStart 2008 you must:
- be enrolled, or planning to enrol at the University of Wollongong in 12 or more credit points in both Autumn and Spring session 2008;
- be receiving Centrelink support or be earning an equivalent low income;
- not be receiving scholarship assistance in 2008 for more than $2,200;
- be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or the holder of an Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa (please note that if you are a New Zealand citizen you are NOT eligible for EdStart);
- not be excluded from study in 2008;
- not hold a Bachelor degree or be enrolled in a Postgraduate degree (including a Diploma of Education).

New students enrolling at all campuses and education centres other than Wollongong and students enrolling late are encouraged to apply at this time.
Some applicants from rounds 1 and 2 will be notified that their applications have been placed on a pending list. These applications will be reconsidered at this time if funding is still available.
