The University Planning and Quality Committee (UPAQ) is an advisory committee reporting to the Vice-Chancellor on issues associated with strategic planning and quality improvement.

 
Terms of Reference

• Review the UOW Strategic Plan and the strategic planning structure on a three-year basis and make recommendations to the Vice-Chancellor for the next Plan and cycle
• Monitor performance against the UOW Goals and Objectives annually (under the PMF indicators) and report to the Vice-Chancellor and Council
• Recommend improvements to review and planning processes to enhance alignment with the UOW Strategic Plan
• Advise on quality assurance and improvement processes, incl. the University Quality Improvement Plan
• Advise on requirements for AUQA audits
• Monitor effectiveness of consultation and communication processes for planning and quality activities

 
Membership

The Committee shall consist of:

• Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Operations)
• Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) (Chair)
• Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research)
• Pro Vice-Chancellor (International)
• Vice-Principal Administration
• Deputy Vice-Principal (Finance & IT)
• Two Deans appointed by the Vice-Chancellor
• Chair of Senate
• Chair of QAS
• University Librarian or nominee
• Academic Registrar
• Manager Development Alumni and Community
• Director, Planning Services
• Executive Manager, Strategic Planning & Quality

Other University officers and members to be invited as required for consultation/advice on relevant items of business

 
Meeting Dates

UPAQ meets five times per year to consider University planning and review issues that include:

• UOW planning and review frameworks
• External reviews and governance i.e. AUQA Audit, National Protocols
• Quality Improvement Plan (QIP)
• Benchmarking activities
• Faculty/Unit planning and review
• Academic reviews 
• Risk management
