Faculty of Law Staff Recognised for Outstanding Performance

At the 2009 UOW Vice Chancellor’s Awards Ceremony held on 19 June, three Faculty of Law staff members received awards in recognition of the significance of their contribution to the work of the Faculty and the University.

Susan Boyd, the Faculty of Law’s Placement Coordinator, received the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Service for General Staff. Susan has been instrumental in driving a number of new initiatives in the Faculty of Law, including our early entry admissions program, the Faculty’s very successful orientation program for commencing LLB students during ‘O’ week 2009, and the LUCY mentoring program which matches female law students with women working in the private and public sectors. These new ventures have succeeded in large measure because of Susan’s enthusiasm, dedication and first rate event organisation abilities.

Ian McCall and John Littrich, from the Faculty’s Legal Practice Unit, received a Faculty Award for Outstanding Contribution to Teaching and Learning. The UOW Faculty of Law enjoys an excellent reputation for the quality of its Practical Legal Training (PLT) program, and Ian and John have now been formally recognised for their central role in the delivery of this program. They have moulded it to the demands of a diverse student cohort, maximising the benefits offered from the available information and communication technology, though never compromising on the core mission: to deliver a high quality program that facilitates the transition from law student to practicing lawyer.
