Faculty of Law Research Fund

The Faculty Research Fund is used to support both Faculty of Law staff members and higher degree research students. In relation to staff members, its purposes are to encourage early career researchers, develop coherent concentrations of expertise and to foster individual research interests, thereby increasing the quality and quantity of staff research outputs. In relation to higher degree research, it is similarly intended to improve student numbers and quality and, thereby, thesis completions and quality.

The Faculty Research Fund is administered by the Associate Dean (Research), who serves as Chair of the Faculty Research Committee and as Head of Postgraduate Studies.

Staff members, including Honorary Fellows, are invited to apply for funding for the following research activities:

Project Support using these guidelines, and
Conference Attendance and International Research Leader Visits using these guidelines.

Higher degree research students are invited to apply for funding for fieldwork and conference support, using this link.

Conference registration and travel can be supported by the Faculty Research Fund with moneys from the Faculty internal budget. However, moneys allocated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) into the Faculty Research Fund may not be spent on:

o Conference/Travel registration for academics;
o Desktop computers for academics for general use;
o General telephone/photocopier office charges;
o Leverage support for other internal grant schemes; or
o Teaching relief.
