Welcome

... to students enrolled in research degrees in the Faculty of Law at the University of Wollongong, Australia. This website is designed specially for your use. You should have access to all parts of the site, including the recommended readings using your usual (UoW e-mail) user name and password when prompted.

... to students enrolled elsewhere and to anyone thinking of doing research degrees in Law at Wollongong. Some parts of the site are password protected for copyright reasons, or because certain modules involve enrolment and completion of set tasks as part of an assessable course. Most of the password protected pages involve readings from books or journals. We have tried to give full references for these so you can follow them up through your own library.

About This Site

This site is organised in three 'branches'...

  1. Process is designed to guide you through the formal and time requirements of a research degree. It contains tips on working with supervisors, preparing a research proposal, meeting timelines, and writing.
  2. Research contains a series of discussions about research: how to refine topics, develop research questions, design research, and make sure your research helps you find out new information and make a convincing argument. It includes on-line readings and references. This is particularly oriented to applied or interdisciplinary research relating to law and policy.
  3. Seminars outlines the optional and requisite seminars in which research students are encouraged to participate. Check with your research unit or supervisor for other conferences and workshops.
