Why Choose Us?

By the time that you commence a PLT Course, such as the UOW GDLP, you are nearing your goal of admission as a legal practitioner. You have already made a considerable investment, in time and money, in your future career. It is vital to choose a PLT Course that will deliver the best possible results for this investment.

The University of Wollongong has been twice named Australia's University of the Year (Australian Good Universities Guide) - in 1999-2000 for its outstanding research and development partnerships and in 2000-2001 for preparing its students for the e-world. The University has also been ranked the nation's top university for educational experience and graduate outcomes for the last five years. Our current five-star rankings have been awarded in the categories of:

  • Research Intensity
  • Graduate Rating
  • Staff Qualifications
  • Getting a Job
  • Positive Graduate Outcomes
  • Graduate Starting Salaries

Apart from designing the GDLP to meet the National Competency Standards it has been planned and is frequently reviewed, in consultation with the legal profession, to ensure that it reflects current legal and business trends as well as meeting the highest national standards.

We have an enthusiastic and dynamic core and visiting staff with extensive legal practice and academic experience who are committed to excellence in teaching and research.

The PLT Course is structured around an holistic approach to legal education. We recognise that our role is to help students make the transition from study to practice. Our course focuses both on our students learning needs and of the demands of professional life. As most of our students work in legal environments during the Course, our commitment to flexibility and student support makes the UOW GDLP an investment in your education and future professional life.
