The Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security (ANCORS) is a centre of excellence in oceans governance and maritime security knowledge services in Australia. ANCORS is a leading contributor to the Oceans and Transnational Security “Research Strength” within the University of Wollongong.
ANCORS provides multi-disciplinary university based research, education and high level advice on national and international oceans governance and law, maritime security and co-operation and ocean resource management to countries, agencies and clients in the western Pacific, Indian Ocean and Southern Ocean region and beyond, in order to help them achieve sustainable benefits from marine jurisdictions.
The global nature of the maritime environment, its governance and security means that ANCORS has a global perspective.

The ANCORS Research Agenda titled: Addressing Maritime and Oceans Policy Implications of a Changing World will be launched the Parliament House, Canberra on 3 September 2008. The invitation to this event is extended by the ANCORS Advisory Board Members, Director and Research Fellows along with Ms Sharon Bird MP, Member for Cunningham and Ms Jennie George MP, Member for Throsby.
Over the next few years, ANCORS and partners core focus of research projects will include the critical sub-Agenda: Understanding the Maritime and Oceans Policy Implications of Climate Change for Australia and the Region.
This event presents an opportunity for those with policy and regulatory responsibilities and interests in the maritime domain to meet the ANCORS team and learn more about their important work in support of Australia’s maritime future. |
