Ruth Davis

Ruth Davis is a Lecturer in Law in the Faculty of Law and Member of the Centre for Maritime Policy. She joined the University of Wollongong in January 2003, having previously been in the Faculty of Law at the University of Technology, Sydney.

Ruth’s research interests focus on the legal regime for the protection of the Antarctic marine environment. She has published on maritime jurisdiction in the Southern Ocean, Australian law for Antarctica, and heritage law.

This contribution was to a special edition of Law in Context, focussing on cultural heritage and its conservation. The article focuses on the Heritage Act 1977 (NSW) and in particular upon how it operates relative to peoples’ perceptions of heritage values.
