Elizabeth White Position Law Librarian Degrees Held BA Wol, GDipLib & InfoSc CSU About the Law Library The main purpose of the Law Library is to support the teaching and research carried out by the Faculty of Law. While most of the Law Library's clients are students and academic staff from the Faculty, people working in other subject areas may occasionally need to use the Law Collection. Members of the legal profession and other visitors from the local community come to consult the legal materials as well. All are welcome. The Law Library is a separate collection located within the University Library building, on the western side of the ground floor. The Law Library contains a collection of books, primary materials, printed journals and a large number of electronic resources. All items held in the Law Library are listed in the Library's online catalogue, which can be accessed from the Library's Home Page. Legislation and case reports from the Commonwealth and all Australian states and territories, as well as some from other common law countries, are held. To support the needs of the Faculty, the library purchases at least one copy of law books published in Australia and relevant ones from overseas. The growth in electronic information has impacted on the Law Library as well. We have access to a number of databases which provide full text primary and secondary resources. All current staff and students from the University of Wollongong are issued with a computer account to enable access to these resources on and off campus. Law Library staff have also developed web pages which provide easy access to a number of useful guides and internet resources; these can be found by going to Resources by Faculty - Law on the Librarys home page. Texts and recommended readings required for subjects in the current session are available from Reserve Collection. The Law Librarian is assisted by three part-time librarians and all are members of the Information & Research Services team. All staff in this team have been trained and receive ongoing training in providing legal research assistance. Library Hours Enquiries about the Law Collection should be made at Research Help located on the ground floor of the Library or by telephone on (02) 4221 3548. Opening hours during session are Monday - Thursday 8am to 10pm (service from 9am), Fridays 8am - 6pm (service from 9am), Weekends 10am - 5pm. Please consult our opening hours for more information.
