LawAccess NSW is an agency of the Attorney General’s Department of NSW and provides consumers with the first point of contact for legal assistance services in NSW. The Winter Clerkship Program runs from 30th June 2008. If your application is successful you will gain experience working in a busy contact centre that uses telephone and web-based technology to:
• Assist customers identify the nature of their inquiry;
• Help customers to define the legal issues within their inquiry;
• Identify the urgency, and complexity of the customer’s inquiry;
• Identify and provide legal information to assist customers; and where appropriate,
• Identify and refer the customer to appropriate assistance services;
You Will Gain:
• Paid employment ($36,229 pa pro rata, if over 21) over the university semester break
• Three months guaranteed work- minimum 14 hrs to maximum 35 hrs per week until 15th September 2008
• Possibility of casual work until the end of December
Eligibility:
To be eligible to apply for the Law Access Clerkship Program you need to be a student currently enrolled in a law degree:
• On a part or full time basis and have completed or are about to complete 3 years (or equivalent) of your undergraduate or one year of your graduate degree; OR
• Have completed 2 or more of the following subjects: family law, consumer law, wills and estates, criminal law or criminology, administrative law and dispute resolution.
• Interested applicants must provide copies of their university academic transcript as proof of eligibility
• You must be available to work 35 hours per week for the initial 3 week training period from Monday 30th June 2008 to Friday 18th July 2008 inclusive;
• You must also be available to work minimum 14hours to maximum 35hours per week following training until 15th September 2008.
