Using Voice Mail From Home Voice Mail can be accessed from the phones outside the University by dialing the Voice Mail number, 4221 4000. Before you dial Voice Mail, you must ensure you have a tone dialing phone. This type of phone is a push-button phone which sends tones rather than clicks or pulses when you dial a number. If you are unsure which type you have, dial a number and listen to the sound the phone makes. Some phones have a two position switch which enables the phone to work on tones or pulses- on the Interquartz and Envoy phones the switch is on the right side. If tone dialing does not work from your home, you may be on an old Telecom exchange. You will need to dial 214 000 with the switch set to pulse, and then switch to tone when Voice Mail answers. The procedure to connect to Voice Mail is as follows ( Voice Mail prompts are in Italics): Dial 214 000 Meridian Mail. Mailbox? Enter you mailbox number When you have finished entering you number press the number sign. Press the # button Password? Enter you password When you have finished entering you password press the number sign. Press the # button You are now logged onto Voice Mail and you can use your mail box as you would from your office phone. A summary of Voice Mail commands is below. Playing your Messages
