About IT Training

Overview Ongoing IT Training is a valuable resource to the University community. From instructor-led classes to online videos and downloadable reference materials, training is provided in a variety of convenient formats.

Topics covered are in keeping with the UOW Standard Operating Environment and should help to make you more effective and efficient when working with today’s technology.
Available To
  • Academic and General staff (including casual staff) and postgraduate students of the University are welcome to attend instructor led classes. Note: These classes are not available for undergraduate students.

  • Online training materials offer a quick reference for queries and the convenience of not having to register or spend time in a classroom.
  • Individual tuition enables you to get the help you need  at your convenience.
Key Features
  • Concise courses –  Most classes are 2-3 hours in duration. Course notes are provided for you to keep as a reference.
  • Relevant content – Course content is written in-house in consultation with Faculties and the IT Tech Support team  so that the content is relevant to UOW staff and their needs.
  • Online training – A new feature of IT training is our collection of short videos.  These are not intended as a replacement for hands-on training but for use as an add-on or quick reference point.
  • User guides – Our userguides are written in house and are based on feedback and support queries.  The list of userguides is very comprehensive and available for you to download as needed.
  • Special requests – we can evaluate and provide training to meet unique situations by consultation.
Requirements Most classes are on a first-come, first-served basis via online registration. Some classes have pre-requisites.

Charges vary. When registering, staff will need to provide an account number. Other arrangements for payment can be made for postgraduate students. Individual help in the computer laboratories is free for students.
