Interquartz Telephone Userguide

Interquartz Features

This guide describes the features available on your Interquartz telephone, and shows you how to use them.

1.Authorisation Code (PIN)

Allows you to override access restrictions on your extension by dialing a PIN code. Pin codes can be used to allow calls to be made to local, STD, mobile, and international numbers.

2.Electronic Lock

This feature allows you to lock your telephone electronically to prevent unauthorised use. You can even lock your telephone from another extension. Your lock password can be changed at any time from your telephone. If you wish to use this feature, you will need to contact its@uow.edu.au or call extension 3775 to obtain the codes and password.

To lock your phone:

1. Lift the handpiece or press ON-HOOK/HANDSFREE

2. Dial the lock code

3. Dial your password

4. If you are using another extension, dial your extension number.

5. Hang up or press ON-HOOK/HANDSFREE

To unlock your phone:

1. Perform the same procedure except use the unlock code in Step 2.

 

3. To Transfer a Call to Another Extension

1. Ask your caller to hold.

2. Press PBX RECALL, wait for the transfer tone.

3. Dial the extension number you wish to transfer to.

4. If you wait for an answer, you can announce the call then hang up. If you don't wish to announce the call, then hang up when you have finished dialing the number you are transferring to.

5. If the extension does not answer or is busy, press PBX RECALL, and you will be returned to the original call.

 

4. Enquiry Call

This feature enables you to make a second internal call while holding an existing call. To make an enquiry call proceed as for transfer, however to return to the original call, wait for the enquiry extension to hang up.

 

5. Conference Call

You can use this feature to set up a conference call of up to six participating internal extensions. All callers can participate in the conversation.

1. Ask your caller to hold.

2. Press PBX RECALL, dial the next extension number.

3. When they answer, press the PBX RECALL button again.

4. All 3 parties will now be connected.

Repeat steps 1-3 for a maximum of 6 parties.

 

6. Call Pick-Up

This feature enables phones within your department to be programmed into call pick-up groups. If you wish to answer a nearby ringing phone which is registered in the pick-up group;
To call pick-up a ringing phone:

1. Lift the handpiece or handsfree.

2. Dial *4, and you will be connected to that call.

 

7. Direct Call Pick-Up

This feature allows you to pick up a call which may or may not be in your call pick-up groups.
To pick-up a call:
 

1. Lift the Handpiece or handsfree.

2. Dial *6 then the extension number you wish to answer. You will be connected to that call.

 

8. To Place a Call on Permanent Hold.

This feature enables you to place a call on hold while you make enquireies, check files etc. The caller will now hear music.
To place a call on hold:

 

1. Press PBX RECALL, wait for the transfer tone.

2. Dial #4 and hang up.

3. Your caller is now on hold and will hear background music. Your phone will ring briefly periodically to remind you of the held call.

4. To retrieve the call simply lift the handset.

 

9. Call Forward your Phone to Another Extension.

This feature enables you to forward your phone to another extension so that calls will follow you to another office, or where another person can retrieve your calls.
To forward your phone

 

1. Lift the handpiece or handsfree

2. Dial *1 then the extension number you are forwarding to.

3. Hang up. All calls will now go directly to that extension. You will not hear your phone ring.

To cancel the call forward
  1. Lift the handpiece or handsfree
  2. Dial #1 and hang up.

You can also arrange to have your phone call forward automatically to another number if you do not answer the call after 5 rings, or if you are making another call at the time. To have either of these features please contact the Call Centre on extension 3775.

 

10. Remote Call Forward

The remote call forward feature can be used from any extension to set call forward on another extension
To activate Remote Call Forward

 

1. Dial the Remote Call Forward activate code.

2. Dial the Electronic Lock password for you phone.

3. Dial the extension number of the phone you wish to forward

4. Dial the number to which calls will be forwarded

5. Dial the end-of-entry digits.

To cancel remote Call forward

 

1. Dial the Remote Call Forward deactivate code.

2. Dial the Electronic Lock password for you phone.

3. Dial the extension number of the forwarded phone.

4. Dial the end-of-entry.

11. Automatic Ring Again for Internal Numbers.

If you call an extension that is busy, ring again will notify you when the extension is free.

If you dial an extension and hear a busy tone;

 

1. Press PBX RECALL and wait for the transfer tone.

2. Dial *2 and hang up.

  Your phone will ring when the called extension is free. Lift the handpiece or handsfree and the extension will be dialled automatically.
  3. Dial *2 if you wish to cancel the ring again command.

 

12. Parking a Call

This feature enables you to put a call on hold and pick up the call from another extension.
To park a call
 

1. Press PBX RECALL, wait for the transfer tone

2. Dial *3 and hang up.

3. Your phone will ring periodically to remind you of the held call.

4. To retrievethe call, lift the handset.

To receive a call from another extension
 

1. Lift the handpiece

2. Dial #3.

3. Dial the extension number where you parked the call, and you will be connected immediately.

 

13. Last Number Redial

This feature enables you to save the last number you dialled to be accessed as amny times as you wish
To save the last number you dialled

 

1. Hang up from your last call

2. Lift the handpiece or handsfree

3. Dial #5 and hang up. The last number is now saved.

To redial the saved number

 

1. Lift the handpiece or handsfree

2. Dial *5 and the saved number will be automatically dialled. This number can be re-used until you save another number in its place.

 

14. Storing Frequently Used Numbers

Your Interquartz telephone has 10 memory buttons in 2 rows which can be used to store frequently used numbers. Each button can have 2 numbers stored, the first number being retrieved by pressing the button once, and the second number by pressing the button twice. You can store STD or IDD codes with the telephone numbers. You can even store any of the codes for the features described above, eg call pick-up.
To store a number

 

1. Lift the handpiece or handsfree

2. Press the STORE button.

3. Dial the number or codes to be stored. Remember to include the 0 for an outside line.

4. Press the required memory button once for the first number on that button, twice for the second number.

5. Replace the handset and the number is stored. For example, to store the University's number, you would need to key in 0 42213775

If you wish to store a new number on a button which has already been used, then follow this procedure and the new number will be stored in place of the old number.
To dial using stored numbers;

 

1. Lift the handset

2. Press the memory button once or twice and the stored number or code will automatically be dialled.

 

15. Some Telephone Buttons Explained

Ring Indicator

The ring indicator flashes when the telephone rings. Also sometimes used to indicate receipt of a Voice Mail Message.

On Hook Dial or Handsfree (Dependent On Model)

*On Hook
Allows you to dial a number without lifting the handpiece. Lift the handpiece when the called party answers.

*Handsfree
Allows you to use the telephone without lifting the handpiece.

PDX Recall

The Transfer button.

Ringer Volume

A slide switch on the side of the phone which allows you to change the ring volume. A second switch adjacent the ringer volume allows you to switch the ringer off completely.

Tone/Pulse

Must be on TONE for this PABX

Memory Keys

Allows you to save up to 20 numbers and codes which are frequently used.

16. Setting the time

  1. Open hinged compartment below display.
  2. Press the Store button
  3. Enter the hour, eg. 5
  4. Enter the minutes as two digits, eg. 09
  5. If AM, Enter 0
  6. If PM, Enter 1
  7. If you prefer 24 hour mode, enter 2
  8. Press the Clock/Timer Button
  9. The telephone will beep if entered correctly otherwise a boop will be heard and the procedure will need to be repeated.
