| Q: | How do I get an After Hours Proximity Card for access to Computer Labs in Building 3? |
| A: | To be eligible for an after hours proximity card, you must be: 1. An Informatics student, and 2. Be enrolled in a SCSSE or SISAT subject You can purchase an after-hours Proximity Card from the Informatics Student Enquiry Centre. You will need to produce your student identification card. The processing fee for a Proximity Card is $21.00. When you return the card at the completion of your degree you will receive a refund of $10.00. | Q: | How do I amend my After Hours Proximity Card? |

| Q: | Where can I get more print quota? |
| A: | You can purchase print quota from the Informatics Student Enquiry Centre. Print Quota can only be purchased in multiples of 100 pages for $11.00. To check the number of pages available to you go to: http://www.uow.edu.au/informatics/common/UOW025823.html |
| Q: | What do i do if i have a timetable clash? |
| A: | You will need to see your degree coordinator who will be able to help you select other subjects that do not create a clash. |

| Q: | What do I do if all tutorials/lab classes are full and i haven't enrolled into a class yet? |
| A: | You will need to see your subject coordinator who will manually enrol you into a class or will arrange for more class times to become available. |

| Q: | I have forgotten my password or my password isn't working? |
| A: | You should refer to the posters that are on the walls in the SCSSE or SISAT labs and in the Informatics Student Enquiry Centre. If after you have followed all directions and still can't log on, you can speak to the technical support staff between 9:00am and 5:00pm in Building 3, Room 238. If there is no one in this room please go to Building 3, Room 228. |
| Q: | Where is lost property kept? |
| A: | If any lost property is found and handed into the Informatics Student Enquiry Centre, it will be kept for approximately two weeks and, if not claimed, will be taken to the Security Office in Building 11. If the Student Enquiry Centre does not have your lost item you should also check with the Security Office in Building 11 as this is where cleaners take any items they find. |
| Q: | How can I book camera equipment? |
| A: | Faculty of Informatics Students can book equipment between 9:00am and 5:00pm in Building 3, Room 238. Items are subject to availability and should be booked in advance. You will be required to provide your student identification card and sign a loan form. |
| Q: | How do I apply for academic consideration? |
| A: | You must apply on-line via SOLS at http://www.uow.edu.au/student/ Select the Academic Consideration link under the Main Menu. |

| Q: | Can I leave a form for the Sub-Dean to sign? |
| A: | Forms that require Sub-Dean approval can be left with the administrative staff at the Informatics Student Enquiry Centre. Once the Sub-Dean has signed the form it will be taken to Student Central, this process usually takes a few days. When Student Central have processed your form they will send you a SOLS message. |
| Q: | When can I speak to an academic? |
| A: | If you need to speak to an academic outside of class time you should see them during (consultation times), unless you have an appointment. Staff in the Informatics Student Enquiry Centre can advise when lecturers are available, however this information is also listed on the web in the subject outline. |

| Q: | Who do I speak to if I have paper and printer issues? |
| A: | If a student has sufficient print quota but there is no paper in the printers, they should advise staff in the Informatics Student Enquiry Centre, who will inform the technical staff. If the Student Enquiry Centre is unattended you will need to advise the technical staff in Building 3, Room 238. |
| Q: | What is ILIP? |
| A: | There are two compulsory information Literacies introduction programs. ILIP aims to enable all students to attain a minimum level of information literacy skills at the start of their first year of study. Information literacy skills are concerned with the ability to locate, use and evaluate information effectively, and are part of the profile of a Wollongong University graduate. LIP100 is for Undergraduate students; and ILIP009 is for new Postgraduate coursework students who have not been enrolled in the past five years. Students are required to complete various tasks for ILIP. Students may attend information sessions held in the library or complete an online tutorial. | Q: | My course status says probation or referral, what does this mean? |
| A: | Students who fail to perform satisfactorily in a mandatory placement component of a course, or for other specified reasons, is deemed to be unlikely to perform satisfactorily in the placement and therefore has been assessed as unsuitable to continue. A restricted rate of progress is based on each individual and any concerns should be taken up with the Sub-Dean. Application for Advanced Standing (Credit) or Exemption Also available from Student Central in Building 17 and can be downloaded from the web: http://www.uow.edu.au/student/forms/UOW008135.html Students use this if you are seeking to get exemption or credit for subjects. A student may seek advanced standing on the basis of studies completed prior to their enrolment. Studies undertaken at other Universities and Colleges of Advanced Education, including domestic providers, such as TAFE may be considered. Applications for Advanced Standing must be accompanied by full documentation of previous studies, with photocopies of the relevant pages from the Handbook/Calendar of the institution concerned, and a certified transcript. The form must be signed by your Course Coordinator and also the Informatics Faculty Sub-Dean. |
| Application to Vary Course Registration (Course Transfer) - Undergraduate Also available from Student Central in Building 17 and can be downloaded from the web: http://www.uow.edu.au/student/forms/UOW008135.html This is for students who are transferring from one degree to another. This form must be signed by the Course Coordinator of the degree into which you are transferring, and then signed by the Sub-Dean. Application to Vary Course Registration (Course Transfer)- Postgraduate Also available from Student Central in Buildingg 17 and can be downloaded from the web: http://www.uow.edu.au/student/forms/UOW008135.html This form is for postgraduate coursework students who are transferring from one degree to another within their School/Unit/Department. For courses not under the Faculty of Informatics, a new application is required |

| Application to Declare of Change Intended Major/Minor Also available from Student Central in Building 17 and can be downloaded from the web: http://www.uow.edu.au/student/forms/UOW008135.html For those students who wish to change the current major they are studying. This form must be signed by your Course Coordinator and the Sub-Dean only if the change is for one of the degrees listed on the form. If your degree is not listed on the form you can take it straight to Student Central to be processed. |

| Academic Approval - Subject Addition Also available from Student Central in Building 17 and can be downloaded from the web: http://www.uow.edu.au/student/forms/UOW008135.html Use this if you need to add a subject late -between week 2 of session and the 'Last day to add subject with approval of Academic Adviser & Head of Department' (view session key dates here); or want to exceed your credit point limit. Please note this does not apply to Intakes. This form must be signed by the Subject Cordinator, and then signed by the Head of School. |

| Application for Leave of Absence Also available from Student Central in Building 17 and can be downloaded from the web: http://www.uow.edu.au/student/forms/UOW008135.html An Undergraduate student can apply for leave of absence after the second session of enrolment. Leave may be taken for up to one year, provided the Academic Registrar is notified prior to the fourth week of the first session for which leave is sought. Masters and Honours students can also apply for leave of absence but must also have written consent from their supervisor. |
