Early Entry

Selection Guidelines

Informatics course choices are divided into five (5) sections on the registration page:

1. School of Computer Science & Software Engineering courses
2. School of Electrical Computer and Telecommunication Engineering courses
3. School of Information Systems & Technology courses
4. School of Mathematics and Applied Statistics courses
5. General Interview – If you are unsure of your degree choice please choose this option.

Please Note: Interviews for Electrical, Computer and Telecommunication Engineering courses (selection 2) can take place on an earlier date. When registering, please select the 'Earlier Date' option and you will be contacted to arrange a suitable day and time.

You will only be able to select one interview timeslot per section, eg Bachelor of Engineering in Telecommunications Engineering at 10:00, Bachelor of Computer Science at 10:30, and Bachelor of Mathematics and Finance at 11:00. This assumes that you wish to be interviewed for these three courses.

There is the potential to book any vacant timeslots for extra course interviews of your choice on Early Entry day.

It is possible to discuss various specific courses within the one interview timeslot providing they appear in that discipline's (School's) list, eg Engineering (Computer) and Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) can both be discussed within the one interview timeslot as they both appear in the Electrical Computer and Telecommunication Engineering discipline list.

If you're only interested in one course, then just choose that course and one timeslot.

Note:

Academics from all four disciplines will be available on the day for further consultation outside of the allocated interview times.

Example 1:
John Citizen is interested in a specific Electrical, Computer and Telecommunications Engineering course (eg Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering) and a Maths course.
John would have two options open to him:
1. He could register for the Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering (section 2 on the registration form) and the Maths course of his choice (selection 4) selecting the 'Earlier Date' time for both those choices. John will then be contacted to arrange a suitable date and time to attend both these interviews.
OR
2. John could select the Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering option from the selection 2 list and his preferred timeslot for that interview on Early Entry day, eg 10:20am.
John would then move to the selection 4 options and choose his preferred interview timeslot for the Maths course of his choice, eg 11:00am.
John will now be either contacted to arrange a suitable date and time for both his interview choices or receive a confirmation (by email and/or post) as having two interview times on Early Entry day, along with a time for the mandatory Dean's presentation (generally preceding his first chosen interview time).

Example 2:
John's sister, Jane, is only interested in the Bachelor of Computer Science course.
Jane would therefore only select that course option from the selection 3 list and select her preferred timeslot for her interview, eg 10:15am.
Jane will receive a confirmation of her interview time and a time to attend the mandatory Dean's presentation via email and/or post.

Important
Note:

All registrations will automatically be allocated a mandatory Dean's Presentation timeslot. In the main, this presentation will precede allocated interview times. In this presentation, the Dean will outline the Faculty and the Early Entry program, how an Early Entry offer relates to UAC and your preferences, and explain the difference between a 'guaranteed' offer and a 'conditional' offer.

The Dean's presentation is scheduled for 9:30am, 10:30am, 14:00pm and 15:00pm on Early Entry day.

Please ensure that you arrive a minimum of 10 minutes prior to your first appointment.
