Recruitment Opportunities

Prospective employers can get help to recruit our students from both the University and the School.

The University Careers Service offers a number of ways to get in touch with students. Employer Programs and Services can be found here:

They will also arrange for representatives of prospective employers to visit the University and they’ll advertise the visit to appropriate students.

The school is also keen to assist businesses and organisations to recruit our recent graduates, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. If you would like to arrange a recruitment session specifically with the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering or with the School of Information Systems and Technology, contact Sonia Jennings on 4221 4382 or by email to jennings@uow.edu.au and she will arrange a venue for your visit and invite suitably qualified graduates or current students.

Filling a Specific Vacancy

If you are looking for a specific type of graduate to fill a position in your organisation, contact Sonia Jennings on 4221 4382 or by email to her and she will arrange advertise the position among both our students and staff. Academic staff are often able to identify individual students who meet your particular needs and so help you to vet potential applicants.

Industry Placements

In a number of our degrees, students are expected to do one or more 6-week business or industry placements. The students are not paid for the work they do on the placement and they are covered by the University’s WorkCover policy, so these placements have no actual cost to the business. Students can work on a wide variety of technology tasks, such as fine-tuning a network, developing or enhancing an application, building or improving websites and carrying out research about possible technology solutions for your company. Many local employers have been so impressed by our students on industry placement that they have offered them full-time positions on their graduation. If you would like us to arrange an industry placement for you, contact either Sim Kim Lau on p: 4221 4132 e: simlau@uow.edu.au or Bob Brown on p: 4221 3758 e: bobbrown@uow.edu.au.
