Title: “New security results from an RFID privacy model proposed in ASIACRYPT’ 07”
Speaker: Ching Yu Ng (University of Wollongong)
Day: Wednesday 15 April 2009
Location: Building 3. Common Staff Room
Time: 12.30-13.30
Abstract: In Asiacrypt 2007, Vaudenay proposed a formal model addressing privacy in RFID that defines eight privacy classes. One important result is the impossibility of achieving strong privacy in RFID. The question whether forward privacy without PKC is possible was left open also. In this talk, first we revisit the eight privacy classes defined. Second, we propose reduction for these eight classes to turn them into three classes that will address the same goal under certain reasonable assumptions. Third, we show that strong privacy in RFID is achievable. At the end we point out the possibility to achieve forward privacy without PKC in formal model and in practice.
