CRYPT Seminar
Title: “Cryptanalysis of Trivium Stream Cipher”
Speaker: Shekh Faisal Abdul Latip (University of Wollongong)
Day: Tuesday 4 March 2008
Location: Building 3. Common Staff Room
Time: 12.30-13.30
Abstract: “Stream ciphers encrypt individual characters (usually binary digits) one at a time using an encryption transformation which varies with time. Two main classes of stream ciphers are synchronous and self-synchronizing (asynchronous) stream ciphers. Currently the EU ECRYPT is identifying new stream ciphers that might become suitable for possible widespread adoption through a project known as eSTREAM. In this project, Trivium (a synchronous stream cipher) is one of the hardware-based focus ciphers which have been advanced to Phase 3 of the eSTREAM. Trivium is both simple and elegant in its design. Although this design has attracted a lot of interest from cryptanalysts, it remains unbroken as there has been no attack on Trivium faster than exhaustive search. In this presentation we would like to show our result of the cryptanalysis of Trivium stream cipher. ”
