Crypt Seminar

Title: “Security for Cloud Computing”

Speaker: Robert Smart (University of Wollongong)

Day: Wednesday 18 March 2009
Location: Building 3. Common Staff Room
Time: 12.30-13.30

Abstract: “The fashionable "cloud computing" is one of many cases where code is executed by a Service provider on behalf of a client. This poses a security challenge when that code needs to access an external resource. This talk will argue that code executing in such an externally provided service should never try to authenticate itself as the client. Access to resources should be via the Service provider: Service Owner Requests Resource for Client (SORRC). The talk will discuss aspects of this and compare it with some historical and current alternative approaches. ”
