Title: Materialized View Maintenance with Minimum CollaborationsSpeaker: Zheng Lu
Day:28/06/2007
Abstract: At present, many solutions have also been developed for the problem of view maintenance in a distributed environment. These research efforts provide a spectrum of solutions with the different focus and capabilities. However, the majority of these view maintenance algorithms share some similarities, they either assume that the data changes at the source system are ready for use during the maintaining process, or they assume that multiple components involved in the view maintaining process may be distributed but they are fully collaborated. Our works aims to overcome the limitations of fully collaborated distributed view maintenance environment between the multiple remote source systems and the local site where the materialized view is located. In addition, due to possibly the large data volume of source tables involved in the view maintaining process and consequently enormous overhead may associated with the data extracting and transporting, the efficiency issues have been also taken into considerations and some optimization techniques have been integrated in this proposed work.
