Major in Financial Planning
The Australian Securities and Investment Commission (AISC) has set training standards for people who want to be licensed to provide financial product advice to retail clients. Courses that satisfy these standards are recognised on the AISC's 'training register'.
The UoW BMathFin's Financial Services Stream has placed on their register. This means that students completing this stream will satisfy Tier 1 of AISC's training requirements relevant to a range of advisory activities. Such accreditation is very important for those wishing to pursue quantitative careers in the financial services industry.
Course Program
The major study has the additional requirements that the following subjects be completed from the elective list: ISIT111, LAW101, MGMT110, MARK101, ACCY228, FIN251, FIN320, FIN328 AND FIN329.
For the Honours program, students must complete FIN423 in place of FIN323, and the Honours project INFO401 must be in the area of mathematical or statistical aspects of financial planning.
For the non-Honours program, STAT304 must be completed.
