SAS

[Class2.txt and exercises for SAS course available here.]

This introductory course is intended for academic staff and postgraduate students who are planning to use this package.

SAS's operation on a MAC is almost identical to its operation on a PC and Mac users would have no transitional difficulties. The course provides an introduction to SAS on PCs, and includes:

  • how to code data
  • how to set up a data base
  • how to define variables
  • how to compute new variables and use 'if-then-else' statements
  • how to write and run simple statistical procedures.
  • how to save data and output how to import data

This course will be given by Vicki Kendrick, School of Maths & Applied Statistics, who has extensive experience with the use of this package.

Please be aware that this course teaches statistical computing, not statistics. (If you need training in basic statistics, you should do the course Statistical Methods for Research Workers, offered each Session.

A charge of $66 (or $60 if paid by your University department) will be made for students currently enrolled in a research degree at the University of Wollongong and salaried staff of the University of Wollongong. A receipt will be issued. The course is limited to a maximum of 20 people. Enrolments will be taken strictly in order of receipt. The course will not run if there are insufficient enrolments.

To enrol for this course, please complete an enrolment form and return it, with a cheque for $66 (payable to "University of Wollongong"), to the School of Maths & Applied Statistics. Alternatively, provide a University account number which may be debited, and have the debit approved by an authorised signatory. Applications will not be accepted without accompanying payment.
