Prof Alistair Fitt has a wide range of research interests that work in well with the aims of MISG. His research interests include mathematical modelling problems from industry, the flow and behaviour of shear-thinning fluids, the mathematical modelling of eyes and various aspects of the procedure of optical fibre manufacture and the analytic, asymptotic and the mathematical theory of two-phase flow.
Prof Fitt's talk is entitled "Flow in an LMFBR boiler - from reactor floor to asymptotics, analysis and numerics" |
| On Wednesday afternoon Dr Bob Anderssen from CSIRO will be giving a talk entitled: The Impact of Applications on Mathematics , for further details check the program. |

Dr Chris Breward, University of Oxford is Associate Director of the newly established Oxford Centre for Collaborative Applied Mathematics and is also Deputy Director of Oxford Centre for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. His research interests include mathematical modelling of industrial and biomedical processes, especially those involving surfactants. He will be giving a talk on Wednesday afternoon, and generally assisting MISG 09 with his expertise. Check back for the title and abstract shortly. |
