Being a national conference with a focus on

"Teaching and Modelling in Statistics"

The statistics group at the University of Newcastle has the pleasure of inviting you to the third Annual ASEARC Research Conference.  It will be held at the University on December 7th and 8th, 2009.

Our focus is on two themes: World-renowned researchers from both Australia and abroad will give invited presentations, including

Dr Jennifer Brown, Dept of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Canterbury

Mike Camden, Statistics New Zealand, and Education Committee of New Zealand Statistical Association

Dr Rosaria Lombardo, Dept of Business Strategies and Quantitative Methodologies, Second University of Naples

Dr Olivier Thas, Dept of Applied Mathematics, Biometrics and Process Control, Ghent University

Registration

The cost of registration is AUD$250.00 ($200 for students), and includes morning and afternoon teas, lunches and the conference dinner (to be held on Monday 7th December).  Delegates will be responsible for their own accommodation, however they may wish to consider the Jesmond Executive Villas, where most of the ASEARC attendees will be staying.

Submissions

Submissions for presentations relating to either theme are now open. We are accepting both abstracts and full papers. Full papers, up to four pages in length, will be peer-reviewed and accepted papers published in a CD-ROM of proceedings.  The presentation length will be advised but will be in keeping with a conference of this style.   Submissions may be made electronically to asearc@gmail.com.

There is a Latex style file and sample .tex file, as well as a Microsoft Word 2007 format file (the zip format is provided for Windows users, the tgz file for Linux, etc.). Please use whichever you are more comfortable with: for latex submissions, please send a PDF of your paper. The page limit is 4 pages, and full-paper submissions are due on Monday 19th October. If you are having trouble meeting this deadline please let me know and we will arrange an extension; I apologise for the late provision of these templates.
