Workshop on Geometric Analysis
2nd and 3rd October 2008
University of Wollongong
Geometric analysis is a modern area of mathematical research, synthesising techniques from partial differential equations, Riemannian geometry and other geometries, topology and analysis. The branch of mathematics is achieving spectacular results including the recent proof of the Poincar\'{e} conjecture by Perelman. A particular class of problems within geometric analysis involves geometric evolution equations and these will be a focus of the workshop. This workshop is an opportunity for local mathematicians working in the field to gather together along with distinguished visitors Dr Oliver Schnürer and Dr Felix Schulze from Freie Universität Berlin to present and discuss key developments in analysis of geometric evolution equations.
