Information and communication technology is a pervasive discipline that encompasses information systems and technology, computer science and software engineering, electrical, computer and telecommunications engineering, and mathematics and applied statistics.
The Faculty of Informatics was purpose-built to educate graduates to play a pivotal role in the digital economy and provide solutions to the complex problems across the information and communication industry.

Former Informatics graduate nets 2012 Young Tall Poppy Award for crystal research
Dr Aaron Thornton, a former undergraduate Bachelor of Math (2004), Honours Student (1st class) (2005) and PhD (2009) graduate of the Faculty of Informatics and current CSIRO mathematician was last night awarded the Victorian Young Tall Poppy Award for research into new crystals called zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs).
Students’ works wow at trade show
Games of survival, meal planning systems, cycling apps and a volunteer matching service were just some of the student works that wowed the crowds at the recent School of Computer Science and Software Engineering (SCSSE) and School of Information Systems and Technology (SISAT) annual Trade Show and Research Showcase.
