Increasing your print quota:
To increase this quota you need to purchase additional pages from the Informatics Faculty Student Enquiry Centre (Building 3 room 120) during the hours 8.30am - 5.00pm Monday - Friday.

Please note that it may take up to 24 hours for the quota to be updated.

Cost:
Pages cost 11c (just like printers with CopyCards) and can be bought in multiples of 100 pages ($11 inc GST.)

Printing multiple pages per sheet:

The print quota system counts the number of postscript pages that are printed, not the number of sheets of paper that produced. This has two consequences: double sided (duplex) printing is charged as two pages, printing multiple pages per sheet will still result in each page being charged for.

Double sided printing
In laboratories with printers that are capable of double sided (duplex) printing, double sided printing is selected as default because it saves on the amount of paper used. However, it is charged as two pages because it still uses the same amount of toner. If you need to print single sided you can choosed a printer with the "_simplex" prefix.

Reducing the charge for multiple pages per sheet
The cost of printing multiple pages per sheet can be reduced by first printing to a postscript generating printer, such as CutePDF Writer, and then printing the output from this application normally.

  • Select print from the file menu.
  • Select the "CutePDF Writer" printer.
  • In the "Zoom" area, select the number of "Pages per sheet".
  • Select "OK" to produce a PDF file.
  • Print the PDF file normally. Don't forget to select the correct printer.
