DRIVING THE DIGITAL ECONOMY
Information and communication technology is a pervasive discipline that encompasses information systems and technology, computer science and software engineering, electrical, computer and telecommunications egineering, and mathematics and applied statistics.
The Faculty of Informatics was purpose-built to educate graduates to play a pivotal role in the digital economy and provide solutions to the complex problems across the information and communication industry.
International Fellowship: Cryptologist cracks an Australian first

Informatics Alumni wins major award in China
The CPA Australia China Alumni of the Year Award was awarded to Mr Simon Chung, a University of Wollongong, Faculty of Informatics graduate. Mr Simon Chung completed a Bachelor of Mathematics with a major in Computer Science in 1990 and worked in Australia before returning to China to take up a role with ChinaSoft International Limited. He is now the Global Chief Operating Officer with ChinaSoft International Limited, a Hong Kong listed company with revenue of over 1.6 billion RMB. Mr Chung credits his Australian study experience at UOW not only developing .. “from the technology side of things, but the way of thinking – the open thinking and the work ethic”.
