Information for Years 7-10

Year 7 Students

As a Year 7 student, you may be able to participate in the Academic Mentoring Program! You will be able to work on a project called ‘Local Heroes’ during Terms 2 & 3, with a University Student to help guide you. In this project you will have the opportunity to select a role model of your choice, and undertake guided research and writing and present your project in the form of a podcast, digital story, artwork or speech presentation. You will have the opportunity to present your project at a presentation night with your UOW mentors at the University of Wollongong, and you may even have the opportunity to meet your local hero!

Year 8 Students

As a Year 8 student, you may be able to participate in the Academic Mentoring Program! You will be able to work on a project called ‘Developing a Business’ during Terms 2 & 3, with a University Student to help guide you. In this project you will have the opportunity to select a product of your choice, fundraise, market and sell your product at your school. You will have the opportunity to present your project at a presentation night with your UOW mentors at the University of Wollongong, and you may even have the opportunity to meet leading Business experts and University of Wollongong staff.

Year 9 Students

As a Year 9 student, you may be able to participate in the Academic Mentoring Program! You will be able to work on a project called ‘Creating an Episode for UOW TV’ during Terms 2 & 3, with a University Student to help guide you. In this project you will have the opportunity to select a topic of your choice, undertake guided research, write a script and film your episode! You will have the opportunity to present your project at a presentation night with your UOW mentors at the University of Wollongong.

Year 10 Students

As a Year 10 student, you may be able to participate in the Academic Mentoring Program! You will be able to work on a project called ‘Solving an Environmental Sustainability Issue’ during Terms 2 & 3, with a University Student to help guide you. In this project you will have the opportunity to select a topic of your choice, undertake guided research and develop a resource to solve the issue! You will have the opportunity to present your project at a presentation night with your UOW mentors at the University of Wollongong.
