In2Uni is collaboration between the Department of Education and Communities (DEC), Illawarra South East Region and UOW to enable students to access, participate and succeed in higher education. The program is offered to local socio economic status (SES) national partnerships, priority school program (PSP) and some regional high schools and primary schools.
Your school has been identified as a potential participant in the program. There are several ways in which your students can get involved. They are:
Year 6 Engagement Day
For students and their parents and teachers, activities include sessions presented by faculties, social activities, hear UOW student stories and orienteering. For more information, please visit our events page!
The Academic Mentoring Program – for students in Years 7- 10
The Academic Mentoring Programs are school-based and delivered by trained University of Wollongong students which would be curriculum based, sustainable, value add and capacity build. The program is underpinned by an Academic Mentoring Handbook, which ensures that outcomes are aligned with the school curriculum. Over the term your child has been working with an In2Uni Mentor to present an area of research, run an online business, create an episode for UOW TV, conduct an environmental audit of their school, design and construct a water filter, and create a submission to the Department of Fair Trading.
UNIque Experience Day – for students in Year 9 & 10
The UNIque Experience Day will be available to students in the Academic Mentoring Program and will aim to develop student’s knowledge and engagement with UOW campuses. The UNIque Experience Day will involve campus tours, faculty based taster sessions and information about student life at UOW. For more information, please visit our events page!
Leadership & Transition Workshops - for students in Year 11 & 12
Open to Year 11 & 12 students, these workshops will be run each term in the schools involved in the In2Uni Program. During the Leadership & Transition Workshops, students will have the opportunity to work with their In2Uni Mentor to develop their study skills, explore their career options and participate in activities that will assist them in making the transition to Higher Education. The aim of the Leadership and Transition Workshops is to prepare them for senior and tertiary studies.For more information, please visit our events page!
HSC Study Assistance Days
HSC Study Assistance Days are held throughout the year at the University of Wollongong. HSC Study Assistance days will provide your students with useful information and tips about approaching the HSC.
