Super Study Day 2017

Open to current Year 12 students who participated in the Summer Master Class or University Preparation Program in 2017, this one day event provides students with the opportunity to individually discuss their applications ahead of Early Admissions interviews, receive feedback after a mock HSC English exam, hear from a current HSC marker, and learn more about their career and pathways options. Students must register their attendance below.

Maximise your HSC results and kick-start your Bachelor degree with our 3 week HSC Summer Master Class university experience.

The HSC Summer Master Class program provides you with an opportunity to get a head start in your HSC and experience university life on campus, by participating in lectures, tutorials and labs. With seven subjects on offer, which all complement the current Year 12 HSC syllabus outcomes, this is your chance to get an insight into university life and expectations.

          - Receive a guaranteed Early Admissions interview*

          - Get started at university while you're still in Year 12

          - Receive credit towards a UOW degree that could make you eligible to skip a whole subject when you study here*       

DATES: January school holidays 2018

TIMES: Timetables vary between 8:30am – 5:30pm.
Hours and timetables will vary for each subject, with approximately 40-50 contact hours across the three week period.

LOCATION: University of Wollongong
Subject availability will vary between UOW campuses.

COST: TBC
Sponsored places are available for students who meet the required equity criteria.

Applications for the January 2018 Summer Master Class will open in October 2017. Before you commence the application process, please ensure that you have your BOSTES Student Number available. You will also need to select up to three subject preferences in your application. It is recommended that you know what subject and campus you would like to apply for before beginning your application. Please refer to the program brochure for full subject criteria prior to completing your application. 

You will also need to address the following criteria (in a maximum of 300 words): 
• Commencing Year 12 in Term 4, 2017
• Have a strong interest in the Faculty subject area you are applying for
• Have demonstrated interest in applying to university
• Have a high level of written and oral communication skills
• Have a high level of maturity, teamwork and organisational skills
• Have demonstrated high levels of motivation and commitment towards your studies

You will be required to upload the following information as part of the application process:

Identification Documents for Australian Citizens

  • A copy of your Birth Certificate (certified by a Justice of the Peace) OR
  • A copy of your Australian Passport (certified by a Justice of the Peace)

Identification Documents for Permanent Residents

  • A copy of your passport (the first page) – certificated by a Justice of the Peace OR
  • A copy of your VISA Grant Notice

If you are applying for a full sponsored place, you will also require:

  • Proof of you or your family's Centrelink payment (e.g. a copy of your current Health Care card)

If you are applying for a half sponsored place, you will also require:

  • A Family Tax Benefit Statement from Centrelink AND/OR
  • Proof of you or your family's Centrelink payment (e.g. a copy of your current Health Care card) OR
  • Other supporting documentation to state that you are experiencing social disadvantage or financial hardships which may impact on your ability to participate in the program without some financial assistance.

Program Costs and Sponsored Places

Fees and key dates will be available from mid-2017 for all interested participants.

Sponsored Places

The In2Uni team does offer a range of full and half sponsored places.

You may be eligible for a full sponsored place if you meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • You or your parents are in receipt of a Centrelink (or other Commonwealth) means-tested income support payment (such as a Disability Support Pension, Parenting Payment  (Single) or Carer Payment). 
  • You are Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • You will be completing Year 12 at a school in a rural or remote area

You may be eligible for a half sponsored place if you do not meet the above criteria but:

  • Your parents are in receipt of Family Tax Benefit (FTB) Part A and Part B OR
  • You are able to provide supporting documentation that you are experiencing social disadvantage or financial hardships which may impact on your ability to participate in the program without some financial assistance.    

UOW Accommodation Options

Students travelling to the UOW Wollongong Campus to participate in the program may like to consider staying at one of our UOW accommodation residences for the duration of the program.

Students over 16 years of age will not require parental supervision.

Standard Queen Room for 1 Guest
Description: The room has a queen bed, ensuite, air conditioning, linen, television, mini fridge, tea & coffee making facilities.
Weekly Cost: TBC (more information to be available in October 2017)

Premium Room for 2 Guests
Description: The room has 1 queen bed, 1 single bed, ensuite, air conditioning, linen, television, mini fridge, tea & coffee making facilities.
Weekly Cost: TBC (more information to be available in October 2017)

Microwaves are available in the foyer area for students to use during their stay, and rooms will be cleaned once per week. Limited off street parking is also available on a first-come basis.

Students interested in staying in UOW accommodation will need to indicate this in their online application form for the HSC Summer Master Class program. 

Parent Information Sessions

Parent information sessions will re-commence in September, 2017 for the Summer Master Class 2018 program at the University of Wollongong (Wollongong Campus). The parent information session will cover program details, subjects on offer, expectations for students and program benefits.
