Year 12 Summer Master Classes 2018 

Maximise your HSC results and kick-start your Bachelor degree with our 3 week Summer Master Class university experience.

The Year 12 Summer Master Class program provides you with an opportunity to get a head start in your HSC and experience university life on campus, by participating in lectures, tutorials and labs. With eight subjects on offer, which all complement the current Year 12 HSC syllabus outcomes, this is your chance to get an insight into university life and expectations.

  • Receive a guaranteed Early Admissions interview to UOW*
  • Get started at university while you're still in Year 12         
  • Receive credit towards a UOW degree that could make you eligible to skip a whole subject when you study here*       
  • Be eligible for a $3000 Outreach & Pathways Scholarship during your first year at UOW

DATES: 4th - 22nd January 2018

TIMES: Timetables vary between 8:30am – 5:30pm.
Hours and timetables will vary for each subject, with approximately 40-50 contact hours across the three week period.

LOCATIONS: UOW Wollongong Campus & UOW South-Western Sydney Campus
Subject availability varies between the two campuses- please see below for more details.

COST: $400
Sponsored places are available for students who meet the required equity criteria.

* Students will be offered a guaranteed Early Admissions Interview with the faculty that runs their Summer Master Class subject only. Students must also apply for an Early Admissions interview, and have successfully completed the Summer Master Class in order to be eligible.

Before you commence the application process, please ensure that you have the following available/ meet the following criteria:

  1. You are commencing Year 12 in Term 4, 2017
  2. Your BOSTES Student Number
  3. Your Year 11 Half-Yearly Report (or Grade Verification Form filled)
  4. A certified copy of your passport, birth certificate (or visa if permanent resident)
  5. If applying for a sponsored place in the program, or a travel or accommodation scholarship: supporting documents for equity purposes (see 'Sponsored Places & Scholarships').
  6. It is recommended that you know what subject and campus you would like to apply for, and meet the subject criteria for your preferred subjects- please refer to the program brochure for full subject criteria.

You will be required to upload the following as part of the application process:

Identification Documents for Australian Citizens

  • A copy of your Birth Certificate (certified by a Justice of the Peace) OR
  • A copy of your Australian Passport (certified by a Justice of the Peace)

Identification Documents for Permanent Residents

  • A copy of your passport (the first page) – certificated by a Justice of the Peace OR
  • A copy of your VISA Grant Notice

Sponsored Places & Scholarships

Sponsored Places

You may be eligible for an equity sponsored place if you meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • You are attending an In2Uni Sponsored School in Year 12 
  • You or your parents are in receipt of a Centrelink (or other Commonwealth) means-tested income support payment (such as a Disability Support Pension, Parenting Payment  (Single) or Carer Payment). 
  • You are Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • You are able to provide supporting documentation that you are experiencing social disadvantage or financial hardships which may impact on your ability to participate in the program without some financial assistance (e.g. letter from School Advisor or head teacher) 

UOW Accommodation Options

Students travelling to the UOW Wollongong Campus to participate in the program may like to consider staying at one of our UOW accommodation residences for the duration of the program.

Students over 16 years of age will not require parental supervision.

Standard Queen Room for 1 Guest
Description: The room has a queen bed, ensuite, air conditioning, linen, television, mini fridge, tea & coffee making facilities.
Weekly Cost: TBC (more information to be available in October 2017)

Premium Room for 2 Guests
Description: The room has 1 queen bed, 1 single bed, ensuite, air conditioning, linen, television, mini fridge, tea & coffee making facilities.
Weekly Cost: TBC (more information to be available in October 2017)

Microwaves are available in the foyer area for students to use during their stay, and rooms will be cleaned once per week. Limited off street parking is also available on a first-come basis.

Students interested in staying in UOW accommodation will need to indicate this in their online application form for the HSC Summer Master Class program. 

Parent Information Sessions

Parent information sessions will re-commence in September, 2017 for the Summer Master Class 2018 program at the University of Wollongong (Wollongong Campus). The parent information session will cover program details, subjects on offer, expectations for students and program benefits.
