CRANAplus Student Remote Placement Scholarship - NOW OPEN
There are 6 scholarships of up to $1000 each available to students who undertake a placement in a remote location as part of their studies. Students must be enrolled full-time in a health discipline at an Australian University, and be an Australian citizen or permanent resident to be eligible to apply. For more info, visit the website. Agricultural Health and Medicine Scholarships
The National Centre for Farmer Health is offering a limited number of scholarships to assist students to attend HMF701 Agricultural Health and Medicine training which will be held from 27 February to 2 March 2012 at Western District Health Service, Hamilton, VIC. This 5-day intensive program covers topics relating to the agricultural sector including trauma, zoonotic diseases, respiratory health, vision and hearing injuries, pesticide and veterinary hazards, mental health and remote emergency medicine. Individuals living or working in rural and remote areas, postgraduate students and rural professionals (health or agricultural) with a commitment to rural health are encouraged to apply. These scholarships are valued at up to $5000 for full-time study or $1500 for part-time study and assist tertiary students with a passion for rural issues and a desire to contribute to the future of rural NSW. Applications closed 30 September 2011. - JB Fairfax Award for Rural Journalism
This award of $10,000 aims to encourage university students across Australia to pursue a career in rural journalism and tell the stories of Australian agriculture. Applications closed 30 September 2011.
Australian & New Zealand Association for Health Professional Educators (ANZAHPE) Undergraduate and Postgraduate Student Prizes - NOW OPEN
Undergraduate and Postgraduate medical, nursing and allied health students who are studying or researching in the area of health professional education are invited to apply for these annual awards. Applications close 30 April each year. For more information, please click here.
Cowra CWA Medical Education Grant
This annual scholarship is valued at $4000. Applicants must be in their 2nd year or above of a health related course, and have resided (home address) in or near the following towns: Binalong, Boorowa, Cowra, Grenfell, Harden, or Young for the past 3 years. QLD Government, Office of Rural Health (QHRSS)
QLD Health is offering bonded scholarships to medicine, nursing and allied health students. These scholarships provide financial assistance during full-time undergraduate study, and after graduation, scholarship holders are required to work in rural health care facilities throughout QLD. Country Health SA Undergraduate and Professional Entry Scholarships
Students who are enrolled in or intending to enrol in an undergraduate or graduate entry course in Medicine, Nursing, and Allied Health and who have resided in rural South Australia prior to undertaking their tertiary education are encouraged to apply for this bonded scholarship. Dr William K Hunter Scholarship

Savannah Regional Health Service Placement Opportunity – NOW OPEN
Anna Burley of the Savannah Regional Health Service is offering nursing and allied health students who are in at least their 3rd year of study an opportunity to do a four week community placement (focus on primary health) in Georgetown, a remote community in far north Qld. Accommodation is free, but you need to be willing to use your own car. Rural Health Continuing Education (RHCE) Program
RHCE is funded by the Australian Government and the program provides grants to qualified health professionals living and working in rural and remote Australia. The grants under Stream Two of the program are to support continuing professional development activities. Applications for grants in Stream Two of the program closed on 1 March 2012. David Bowler Memorial Award
Students currently enrolled in a health-related degree and who are originally from Broken Hill are eligible to apply for this award which is offered by the Broken Hill City Council and the Far West Local Health District. Applications open the first work day in December and close the last work day in January. For more details please click here.
Youth Challenge Australia (YCA)

- Indigenous Australia Program
Young volunteers (aged 21-30 years) can work on a range of community development projects in Indigenous Australian communities. The projects range in focus from education, health, youth work, child care, cross cultural events, to skills development. - International Program
Young volunteers can work on projects in locations that include Costa Rica, Vanuatu, Mexico, and Guatemala. The projects vary in focus from capacity building, conservation work and environmental sustainability, education, cultural exchange, and human rights. - India Internship Program
Young people can work overseas in one of YCA’s partner organisations for a period of up to 3 months. Interns develop a range of skills while at the same time developing cultural understanding and gaining practical experience in community development.
RSL Scholarships - NOW OPEN
These scholarships are awarded annually to children and grandchildren of those who have served in the Australian Navy, Army, or Air Force and who are in financial need. Applications close 31 October annually. For more info, visit http://www.rsl.org.au/.
