Student Health Alliance for Rural Populations (SHARP)
What is SHARP?
Student Health Alliance for Rural Populations (SHARP) is the University of Wollongong’s own Rural Health Club, and harnesses the good intent of students representing multiple disciplines in Health and Medicine with a common interest in rural and remote health.
SHARP is one of 29 Rural Health Clubs present in Universities across Australia and is integrally linked to the National Rural Health Students’ Network (NRHSN) and its auspicing body Rural Health Workforce Australia (RHWA).

2007
Club Objectives include
- Provide opportunities for members’ professional development in the areas of rural/remote health such as practical experiences in rural and remote areas;
- Allow for personal and professional networking with other medical and allied health students from other Rural Health Clubs across Australia;
- Encourage students from rural and remote regions to study Health at UOW;
- Generate exposure for rural health issues and NRHSN activities;
- Harness the motivation of students interested in rural and remote health to increase the health workforce and health outcomes for rural and remote Australia.
