Benefits of Membership
Membership will entitle you to:
- Receive a newsletter (In SafeHandS) every 3 months (either by e-mail or post).
- Participation in a moderated discussion e-list where members will receive regular news and information and can submit messages to request technical information, to comment on any posting or to share information and experiences in relation to health care worker safety in the Asia Pacific region.
- Access to a clearinghouse of resources and publications produced by different organisations about health care worker safety (links are posted on the website).
- Access to resources developed by SafeHandS such as fact sheets, generic education and training materials and generic guidelines for policies and protocols.
- Join a database of expertise. This database will be compiled by SafeHandS from information collected in the membership forms. The database will be used to respond to requests from individuals or international organisations for expertise in health care worker safety (in accordance with the SafeHandS privacy policy).

How to Become a Member
Membership is free. Anyone interested in health care worker safety in the Asia Pacific region can become a member.
To register electronically:
- Open the membership form [doc - 63kb]
- Complete the form and then save the form to your computer
- Attach the completed form to an email
- SafeHandS will then e-mail confirmation of your membership
If you have any problems opening the membership form, please e-mail us.
Strengthening SafeHandS
We encourage you to make SafeHandS YOUR network by:
- Encouraging your colleagues and other organisations to become members
- Providing reports about your experience in improving health care worker safety in your workplace
- Participating in the e-mail list to express your views, needs and opinions
- Providing articles and news about health care worker safety for the newsletter and clearinghouse
- Contributing to and reviewing resources developed for SafeHandS
- Providing feedback about the service through the e-mail list and surveys

Improving Health Care Worker Safety in Your Workplace
You can use the SafeHandS network to help affect change in health care worker safety by:
- Translating resources into local languages so that the resources can be accessed more widely
- Distributing the information and resources to colleagues, other organisations and policy-makers
- Using the information and resources to conduct workshops, seminars and training for your colleagues about how to improve health care worker safety in the workplace. This could include cleaners, volunteers, carers, nurses, doctors or managers
- Using the information and resources to educate patients about health care worker safety
- Using the resources to advocate for improvements in policies and programs for health care worker safety
- Supporting each other and sharing information in discussion groups about your experiences
