Postgraduate Certificate in Professional
Psychological Practice The Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Psychological
Practice is a post-fourth-year course designed to provide
students with the skills required for registration as
a psychologist with the NSW Psychologists Registration
Board. The course is open to all graduates in psychology
who have successfully completed a 4th year of study
accredited by the Australian Psychological Society.
It is important to note that registration with the
Board is not automatic on completion of this course.
Students will still need to complete individual placements.
Admission Requirements
Eligibility for entry to the Postgraduate Certificate
in Professional Psychological Practice is based on:
- The successful completion of a recognised 4th year
in Psychology,
- Acceptable performance in an interview.
Course Structure
This course provides some of the skills required for
registration. Students can elect to complete one or
all of the subjects listed below. Completion of all
subjects (total of 32 credit points) will lead to the
award of the Certificate.

The Program
PSYC 966 & PSYC 968 Group Supervision
These subjects provide clinical group supervision incorporating
video and audio tape practice review, and role play
demonstrations
PSYC 967 & PSYC 969 Professional Workshops
These subjects incorporate skills based workshops,
seminars and symposia in the areas of Introductory CBT,
professional issues, personality disorders, and psychological
assessment. It is anticipated that a "topic"
will incorporate between 3 and 9 hours and be focussed
on applied issues.
