Nursing (Undergraduate)Nursing graduates from the University of Wollongong are highly regarded for their clinical competence, knowledge and caring attitudes in nursing practice. The School of Nursing, Midwifery & Indigenous Health provides clinical access to a wide variety of health services in both the public and private sectors within the Illawarra, Sydney metropolitan and country/rural health regions. Transport and accommodation costs may be involved. The variety of clinical experiences provided prepares students for professional practice in such areas as acute hospital care, paediatrics, intensive care, emergency, community health, operating and recovery room, maternal and child care, developmental disability, mental health, gerontology and long term care. Our academics have expertise that spans all significant theoretical areas and clinical settings. Students are also encouraged to seek guidance and expert opinion from academics in other inter-related disciplines within the University. The Bachelor of Nursing course makes extensive use of small group work in tutorials, seminars and laboratory sessions. This enables personal attention to all students from the academic staff. If you choose to study at Wollongong you will become professionally competent in preventative, curative and rehabilitative care as well as in health teaching and monitoring health risks in the environment. The University of Wollongong is ranked as one of the leading Australian universities. The campus is environmentally friendly with excellent facilities including an extensive library, nursing and science laboratories and renowned research opportunities within the University and NSW Health Regions.
