Keryn Johnson
Position:
- Lecturer
Keryn has a PhD and a Masters of Public Health from the University of Wollongong, and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy from the University of Sydney. Keryn has recently finished an ARC-Linkage Doctoral Scholarship with CHI as part of the Sun Protection Project. This project involved analysing past sun protection programs and their use of social marketing and communication theory, and developing best practice guidelines for future sun protection programs. Keryn has had 20 years of clinical work experience in hospital-based physiotherapy, and therefore has a strong medical and public health background.
Keryn coordinates and teaches subjects in the Graduate Certificate of Health Research (Essential Skills for Health Research and Evaluative Research Methodology) for the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Indigenous Health and the Masters of Public Health (Public Health Research Methodology) for the School of Health Sciences.
She is currently working on a number of research projects including:
- Promoting healthy lifestyles in IRT self-care communities
- An exploratory study to investigate the feasibility of a ‘healthy lifestyle’ intervention for international students
- Young adult sun protection: bridging the gap between intentions and behaviour
