UOW has been offering courses in OHS since the mid 1980’s, and in 2009 commenced a programme in Occupational Hygiene Practice
ISRP Award
Congratulations to Carmen Smith who is undertaking a MSc Research on the re-breathing of carbon dioxide in respirators who has won the student prize for her presentation abstract that she submitted to the International Society for Respiratory Protection. She receives $1000 towards travel & free registration at the ISRP conference which will be held in Boston later this year.
This is a significant accomplishment as no other Australian student has ever been awarded this student prize. It also ensures that Carmen's research is presented to the key government & industry people in the international respiratory protection field.
3M Award
Linda Apthorpe MAIOH, COH was awarded a Master of Science (Occupational Hygiene Practice) with Distinction. She delivered the vote of thanks at the Thursday afternoon 19 July ceremony on behalf of her fellow graduates. She is pictured with UOW Fellow Marjory Macdonald and Clark Scobie.
Linda also received the 3M Award for the OHS student with the highest academic performance at the Faculty award night in May.
Linda enjoys teaching the AIOH Basic Principles and UOW Asbestos Courses in her spare time.
Accreditation
The Master of Science OHS (MScOHS) and Graduate Certificate OHS are accredited by the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) in the United Kingdom.
The MSc Occupational Hygiene Practice degree (MScOHP) is accredited by the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH) and the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS).
