OHS Postgraduate Programs

Graduate Qualities

"Graduate Qualities" are the ideal qualities that students will progressively develop through their learning experiences at UOW. The Qualities have elements in common across the UOW, but they also articulate aspects that are specific to the OHS & OHP programme. Some elements deal with discipline knowledge and its application, some with higher order thinking, some with generic skills and others with attitudinal/societal values. Graduate Qualities provide a common educational focus across UOW and contribute to UOW's reputation for quality teaching and programmes. Graduate Qualities aren't achieved in a single subject - their development is an ongoing process across the entire course or programme, and graduates will be able to develop these qualities further after graduation. Learning in some subjects may focus more on the development of particular Graduate Qualities.

UOW has Graduate Qualities so that, by the time they graduate, all UOW students:

  • Have a broad perspective on society;
  • Are able to make an important contribution to society and the chosen field;
  • Are thoroughly prepared for success in the workplace; and
  • Are highly sought after by employers.
