OHS Postgraduate Programs

Assessment

At the end of each intensive teaching week you will be required to complete all online assignments and an examination. The following information will outline some assessment information and you should always refer to your subject outline for specific assessment information.

Submission of Assignments

All assignments are to be found via the subject’s eLearning page, which is located within your SOLs account. You will also need to submit an Online Assignment Declaration form. The eLearning site is designed to be user intuitive however, if you encounter problems using this site click the ‘Help’ link located at the top right of your eLearning page. Refer to your subject outline for specific instructions on assignment submission and requirements.

Penalties for Late Submission

Late submission without an approved extension is not acceptable. Marks will be deducted for late submission at the rate of 5% of the total possible marks for that particular assessment task per day. For the purpose of this policy a weekend (Saturday and Sunday) will be considered as two days.

No marks will be awarded for work submitted either a) after the assessment has been returned to the students or b) more than two weeks after the due date, whichever is sooner. Students must complete all assessment tasks regardless of lateness or loss of marks, where submission is a condition of satisfactorily completing the subject.

Examinations

All examinations are conducted online with access via the subject eLearning site. If you live in the Sydney-Wollongong area you are required to attend the Wollongong campus to complete your examination. If you are remote from these areas you can complete your examination online under appropriate supervision. Details of the examination process and the required documentation to be completed are available on the individual subject eLearning site.

Plagiarism

Students are responsible for submitting original work for assessment, abiding by the University's policy on plagiarism as set out in the University's Handbook under the University's Policy Directory and in Faculty Handbooks and subject guides. Plagiarism has in some instances led to expulsion from the University.

Please refer to the University's policy on plagiarism.

Extensions and Academic Considerations

Extension applications must be made in accordance with the University's Special Consideration Policy.

To apply for Academic Consideration (also referred to as Special Consideration), students must log onto SOLS and select the Special Consideration link prior to the due date of an assignment or examination. A personalised application form will then appear for electronic completion and submission. Once you have completed and submitted the application, you must forward all relevant medical certificates and documentation to Student Central within 3 days so that they can be verified and accepted. Make sure you indicate your name, student number and application number with all supporting documentation. Once verified and accepted, the subject coordinator for your subject will receive your application via SMP (Student Management Package) and you will be advised of the outcome.
