Honours Information

Research a dirty word? NO! If you were going to buy a new car, you would research the type of car, the engine capacity, warranty and the colour among other things.  We all research everyday so why not make a career out of it?  The obvious place to start a research career is an Honours degree.

What is Honours?

An undergraduate Honours degree is an intensive year of study designed to enhance the research skills of undergraduate students.  Normally only available to those students with an outstanding undergraduate academic record, the degree provides a pathway to further higher degree research, a research career or a competitive edge when applying for future employment.

What are the benefits of Honours?

Some of the benefits associated with completing an Honours degree include:

  • Valuable research experience
  • Opportunity to integrate with other researchers in large teams
  • Opportunity to be mentored by supervisors who are considered internationally to be leaders in their fields
  • Publishing your research in a scientific journal
  • Participation in a research seminar program
