Occupational Health & Safety
The University of Wollongong (UOW) has been offering courses in OHS since 2000, and in 2009 commenced a programme in Occupational Hygiene Practice. All courses have been developed in concert with industry, regulators and professional organisations and are under a process of constant review and improvement to reflect the ever-changing OHS environment.
We currently offer:
Master of Science (Occupational Health & Safety)
The Master of Science Occupational Health & Safety provides an intensive professional program of study in the area of OH&S with the opportunity to develop a specialisation in either Occupational and Environmental Health or OH&S Management. The degree also allows students to develop research skills related to professional practice in OH&S.
Please see Course Handbook for full details.
Please visit the Occupational Health and Safety website for further details on our Postgraduate Programs.
Graduate Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety
The Graduate Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety has been developed in concert with industry, regulators and professional organisations and is under a process of constant review and improvement to reflect the ever-changing OHS environment. One of the strengths of the OHS academic programme at UOW is a focus on developing students who have a sound theoretical base in OHS topics together with skills in their practical application. To ensure these skills are developed, the majority of subject co-ordinators have a strong industry or government regulatory background and a willingness to share their experiences with students. This Graduate Certificate is accredited by the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) in the United Kingdom. There is no equivalent accreditation scheme currently available in Australia.
Please see Course Handbook for full details.
Please visit the Occupational Health and Safety website for further details on our Postgraduate Programs.
Master of Science (Occupational Hygiene Practice)
The Master of Science (Occupational Hygiene Practice) provides an intensive professional program of study in the area of Occupational Hygiene with the opportunity to develop a specialisation in one or more industry streams such as the mining or oil and gas industries. Applicants with a Bachelor degree with at least one year of science subjects or a credit average in the Graduate Certificate in Occupational Hygiene Practice may apply.
Please see Course Handbook for full details.
Please visit the Occupational Health and Safety website for further details on our Postgraduate Programs.
Graduate Certificate in Occupational Hygiene Practice
The Graduate Certificate in Occupational Hygiene Practice aims to develop the basic skills necessary to evaluate workplaces for worker exposure to hazardous substances. Skills will also be developed in the control of hazardous substances after they have been identified and evaluated. This Graduate Certificate program has been designed as an entry course for those who may not have an undergraduate degree but have relevant work experience and have completed a “Fundamentals in Occupational Hygiene” course offered by an acceptable professional society or equivalent. The program is designed so that students may progress from the Graduate Certificate through to the Masters degree, provided a credit average is maintained throughout the Graduate Certificate.
Please see Course Handbook for full details.
Please visit the Occupational Health and Safety website for further details on our Postgraduate Programs.
On behalf of the academic and support staff of the OHS programme I would like to welcome you to review the programmes we offer and if you have any questions please feel free to contact us.
