Call for Papers

The 2008 INSM Conference Committee invites submission of competitive papers and proposals for Special Interest Sessions for the 2008 Conference. All papers and proposed Special Interest Sessions must reflect the conference theme of Partnerships, Proof and Practice.

Highest quality conference papers will be published in a ‘special section’ in an upcoming edition of Social Marketing Quarterly.

Selected authors of highest quality papers will be invited to participate in a special issue of Journal of Nonprofit & Public Sector Marketing dedicated to 2008 INSM.

How to Submit

Please email competitive paper and special interest session proposals to Theresa Mullan at tmullan@uow.edu.au. Please type 'SUBMISSION FOR INSM 2008' in the email subject field, and attach two separate files to the email:

  1. A version of your paper which includes the title, author(s) and abstract;
  2. A de-identified version (i.e: no authors) of your paper to allow for blind peer-review.

Conference Topic

Competitive papers and special interest sessions addressing the Conference theme - 'Partnerships, Proof and Practice' - are encouraged.

In addition, papers and special interest sessions may cover any of the following topics:

  • Arts marketing
  • Ethical and corporate social responsibility
  • Environmental marketing
  • Indigenous issues
  • Marketing and public policy
  • Political marketing
  • Public health and healthcare
  • Public sector marketing and e-government
  • Social marketing
  • Social entrepreneurship
  • Sponsorship and fundraising
  • Voluntary sector marketing

Details for Authors

All papers and special interest topics submissions must be submitted electronically and must be received by the extended deadline of Friday, 9th May, 4.00 pm.

Details of the submission process are given at Guidelines for competitive papers.

Papers must conform to the format instructions. Please keep an exact copy for future reference. Papers will be subjected to formal double blind peer review. Authors will be notified of acceptance, rejection and/or suggested modifications as soon as the review process has been completed. Decisions by the Conference Chair are final. Please see key dates for submission and revision deadlines. It is a condition of acceptance of the paper that at least one of the authors must attend the conference and present the paper.

Reviewers for 2008 INSM will judge all manuscripts on the basis of their contributions to the development of nonprofit and social marketing thought, and development and social marketing practice. Papers will be judged on their overall quality and their contribution to the theme. Papers that merely review the literature are discouraged.

Practitioner Contribution Stream

Practitioners are encouraged to submit an Executive Abstract (one page document) for consideration as a 20 minute presentation (with PowerPoint slides) at the Conference, which incorporates the following headings:

  • Statement of Problem / Issue
  • Stakeholder and Internal / External Environmental Analysis
  • Statement of Findings
  • Strategies and Recommendations

Please email contributions for consideration by 9th May, 2008, to Theresa Mullan at tmullan@uow.edu.au

Special Interest Sessions

Special Interest Sessions provide an opportunity for focused discussions on new, innovative and emerging topics within nonprofit and social marketing. Organisers of special interest sessions are invited to submit a proposal for consideration by the Conference Committee.

Proposals must include a rationale, an outline of the issues to be discussed and the name(s) and qualifications of a proposed Chair(s).

Email all proposals for Special Interest Sessions to Theresa Mullan at tmullan@uow.edu.au, by Friday, 9 May, 2008.

Publication

All papers accepted for presentation following the formal review competitive process will be published in the Conference Proceedings. These proceedings will be provided to all conference delegates, and will be available for sale to the general public. Proceedings will have an ISBN.
