Course Description
Large events and festivals-from charity fundraisers to concerts-form part of a multimillion-dollar worldwide industry. Event Management is the special branch of management that focuses on using managerial techniques to organise and run these events.
The Bachelor of Commerce (Event Management) is offered in conjunction and concurrently with the TAFE Advanced Diploma of Events. Students gain practical, vocational workplace skills and knowledge in the area of event management through successful completion of the Advanced TAFE Diploma, together with a broader conceptual base that covers the principal areas of business necessary for senior level management.
Students are unable to progress directly into the Bachelor of Commerce (Event Management) following completion of the October intake of the UOW College University Access Program, or July intake of Foundation Studies, due to the early commencement date of the TAFE Advanced Diploma.
All applications should be directed to the University in the first instance.
Entry Requirements
Academic requirements, English requirements and Credit requirements are available from Course Finder.
Candidates who have previously completed the TAFE Diploma in Events will be considered for admission to the Bachelor of Commerce, where the standard articulation arrangements will apply.
Course structure
This course is offered in conjunction and concurrently with the TAFE Advanced Diploma in Events. The Events component will be delivered by TAFE and result in the award of a Advanced Diploma in Events.
To qualify for award of the degree of Bachelor of Commerce (Event Management) a candidate shall accrue an aggregate of at least 144 credit points by satisfactory completion of subjects listed in the program of study.
Of the 144 credit points not more than 72 credit points shall be for 100-level subjects.
Credit arrangements may occur between the TAFE Advanced Diploma in Events and the University of Wollongong's Bachelor of Commerce (Event Management) provided these courses are completed concurrently.
Should the Advanced Diploma in Events be completed prior to enrolling in the Bachelor of Commerce the standard credit transfer will apply.
All admission applications must be completed on an Undergraduate Course Application Form.
