Overview
This program introduces information and communication technology (ICT) concepts, and provides students with the opportunity to obtain the knowledge and skills required to effectively solve organisational, economic, regulatory and socio-technical problems that arise in the implementation and application of information technology (IT).
Entry Requirements / Assumed Knowledge
A degree equivalent to a three-year Australian Bachelor degree in an area related to ICT (e.g. Information Technology; Computer Science; Information Systems; or Electrical, Computer or Telecommunications Engineering).
Course Requirements
The certificate requires satisfactory completion of at least 24 credit points of graduate subjects including:
1. One subject (6 credit points) ISIT900 Fundamentals of Contemporary Technologies;
2. Three 900-level subjects (18 credit points) chosen from the ISIT Graduate Subjects List or any other subject approved by the Head of School
If it is the intention of the student to progress or articulate into a Masters degree then the pattern of study should follow the intended Masters degree. In other words, subject selection should be consistent with the intended Masters degree.
Advanced Standing
Students who qualify for the Graduate Certificate in Information and Communication Technology may be able to proceed to any of the following degrees:
Master of Information and Communication Technology (MICT)
Master of Information and Communication Technology (Advanced) (MICT(Advanced))
or the Master of Information Technology Management (MITM)
Advanced standing of 24 credit points will be granted towards these Masters degrees.
The completion of the Masters degree will require the satisfactory completion of a further 24 credit points as specified in the schedule for that program.
Other Information
Prior to the conferring of a Master of Information and Communication Technology upon a candidate who holds a Graduate Certificate in Information and Communication Technology from this University, the candidate shall surrender the testamur and all rights relating to the Graduate Certificate.
