Bachelor of Science (Population Health and Psychology)
Population Health and Psychology (UAC Code 757648 or
757651)
The double major in Population Health and Psychology enables
students to pursue two options for their career or further study.
Students may progress to advanced level study such as honours
or postgraduate courses in either field. In addition, the combination
of majors will enable graduates to apply for jobs in specialist
areas of population health, such as lifestyle counselling or
conduction lifestyle management programs.
Entry Requirements / Assumed Knowledge
Domestic School Leavers are assumed to have completed at least
2 units of English at HSC level. International students are required
to have achieved an IELTS score of 6.0 with at least 6.0 in reading
and writing, and at least 5.0 in listening and speaking. Alternative
pathways exist for mature age domestic students.
Professional Recognition
To apply for registration as a professional psychologist with
the Psychologists Registration Board of NSW it is necessary to
complete an accredited 4-year course of study plus 2 years’ supervised
practice. Accreditation with the Australian Psychological Society,
the national professional association, requires 6 years of approved
academic study.
Double Major
The double major in Population Health and Psychology consists
of a minimum of 144 credit points, which comprises all of the
subjects in each of the individual majors. If students wish to
undertake honours in Psychology at the end of the double major
degree, additional subjects are required. Students should consult
the information on Honours in the entry for the Psychology major.
