Communication Studies
Communication Studies, as offered in the Communication and Cultural
Studies Program, is an interdisciplinary study which considers questions
of interaction and conversation, text and image, and studies communication
industries and communication technologies. While there are some
practical components in selected subjects, the approach to Communication
Studies is strongly conceptual, situating communication studies
in broad social, political, historical and cultural contexts, as
well as investigating the ways in which audiences are positioned
and meanings are constructed.
Honours Program
Communication and Cultural Studies offers an Honours Program. Students
must maintain a credit average in completing the requirements for
the Communication Studies major or its equivalent before being eligible
to undertake the Honours year. Students considering Honours should
discuss their undergraduate programs with the Honours co-ordinator
of the School.
Postgraduate Studies
Students should consult the Postgraduate Calendar for details of
course structure and content.
Textbooks
Students should contact the UniCentre bookshop and the subject
co-ordinators for a list of textbooks.
